This one was pointed out to me by Stoatie, who did a random search on eBay and reckoned it would be near me. And right he was: it was basically three minutes walk from me.
It's an original Lambert G.P. Deluxe (I assume '71-73) which came with all parts bar the seat post (had been replaced) and the wheels missing. I've decided to keep it as it is for now. The frame, as it is, has plenty of character and will make a good addition to my ever growing collection. At a later point, though, I'm planning to restore it--if I can get those stickers re-created, that is. I'm guessing that the search for a rear Lambert-branded hub will be a tad difficult, but one can hope, right? Of course, I'll build the wheels myself. The fork is a mark III, therefore safe to ride.

I'd forgotten about this one. I can't wait to see it up and running.
ReplyDeleteI'll hopefully be able to get this back on the roads the next week. Can't wait to ride it.
DeleteHey Stella, It's Ben, the bike's former owner. Looking forward to seeing how you are getting on :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Ben. How nice to hear from you! Even if I'm a bit late with my reply. Blogger doesn't inform me when someone's posted. :-(
DeleteSo far I haven't done anything to the bike yet. The problem is that I need to get one of the crank's pedal thread heli-coiled. I'll definitely get it sorted at some point, but I have another project (or two) beforehand.
